Computer Utilities Freeware
StartupMonitor:
|
Win95/98/NT/2000/XP/::
StartupMonitor is a utility that runs transparently (it doesn't even use a tray icon) and notifies you
when any program registers itself to run at system startup. It prevents those utterly useless tray
applications from registering themselves behind your back, and it acts as a security tool against trojans
like BackOrifice or Netbus. 60 K

MD5 Checksum:
|
Win95/98/NT/2000/XP/:
This application is able to calculate the MD5 digest (the secure checksum) of the content of any file.
You can use this tool to ensure that the content of a file wasn't altered in any way. If e.g. someone
tries to insert malicious code into an executable file its MD5 checksum will change and you note
that something is wrong. Open Source. 40 K

Application Manager:
|
Win95/98/NT/2000/XP/:
Now you can handle all your visible and invisible applications running on your computer! You can trace
Trojans / Patches in your memory, because it shows all programs and services, even though they were
meant to be invisible. The second part of the program completely controls the programs that start up
with windows. It includes fast access to all the startup locations in your registry database, and if you
regret that you removed a program from the startup list a backup system makes it possible to recover it.

Letter Assigner:
|
Win95/98/NT/2000/XP/:
Everybody connecting a second hard disk drive to a computer or repartitioning a hard disk, knows the
problems that arise because of the non-customizable letter assignment performed by the operating
system. Letter Assigner allows you the freedom to assign the drive letters yourself. Letter Assigner
also remembers drives by their serial numbers or by their labels, which provides protection against
letter changes after repartitioning or connecting new drives. It also prevents non-bootable situations that
may occur when the Windows® directory is located on a drive other than C, and the drive changes its
letter. 1.1 MB

ReadOnly:
|
Win95/98/NT/2000/XP/:
ReadOnly allows you to change the read-only attribute of multiple files in subfolders. The problem is that
there is no easy way to clear this flag across multiple folders under Windows. With this application,
thousands of files in hundreds of folders can all have their read-only attribute changed in one click. Great
for coping cd's. 300 K

Virtual Drive Creator:
|
Win95/98/NT/2000/XP/:
The DOS SUBST command is a very powerful tool, even in Windows, Virtual Drive Creator
(VDC) does exactly the same thing. Enter a Letter in the "Virtual Drive Letter" text
box, which sends the control to the "Full Path:" text box, from there you can type the
full path or you can browse to the path via the Drive and Folder Lists. Click OK to
create the virtual drive. To remove a virtual drive, enter the Drive Letter in the
"Virtual Drive Letter" text box and Click the "Remove Virtual Drive" button. (Note:
virtual drives are discarded when you reboot your computer). 733 K

|
Win95/98/NT/2000/XP/:
With this utility you can browse your harddisk in a way that closely resembles the workings of the
Start Menu. Just one click to start and one click when you reach the desired folder. Klik-A-Dir constantly
shows the actual harddisk-structure, so no need to "refresh". 138 K
